INTERCHARM professional was held for the 9th time in Moscow on April 22nd – 24th 2010. The exhibition introduced the last tendencies and novelties of the cosmetics market to the professionals and outlined the ways of further development of beauty-salon industry in new post-crisis economical circumstances.

The economical crisis of 2008-2009 is gradually leaving the minds of society and the consumers are returning to their usual habits. Comparing to other segments of Russian economy, the beauty-industry has suffered the least from the crisis – merely 16% of Russian consumers have decreased their expenses on cosmetics in 2009. Now the industry is entering summer season with stably growing consumer demand for cosmetic services.

Nevertheless, several changes took place for the past years. The main difference is the change of perfumery and cosmetics consumer himself. This fact is a subject to the extremely intensive rates of industry development for the past 12 years. 47 000 of different novelties were launched at the world market annually, which made it hard for manufacturers and suppliers to single their products out of the whole mass of market offers. As a result, the consumers were lost in the offered variety.

To adjust the offer of the companies with consumers’ expectations and define the ways of industry development, cosmetics business professionals meet every six months on InterCHARM and INTERCHARM professional exhibitions. The keynotes of INTERCHARM professional 2010 were the ways of professional cosmetics and beauty-salons equipment industry development and the means of communication between beauty salon specialists and new consumers.

The exhibition

INTERCHARM professional is one of the few expo grounds that gives all market players the real opportunity to fulfill their business-tasks in a very short time period. Each year the participants of the exhibition demonstrate their novelties, present new training programs, promote their products to the specialists. The visitors, in their turn, get the unique chance to receive knowledge in different spheres, such as business management, new products and technologies use, and buy products on special offers. But the most important thing is that both visitors and exhibitors are provided with the opportunity of live communication with its obvious effectiveness in gaining new business contacts, signing of new contracts and attraction of new partners and clients.

Thousands of people visit the exhibition and its educational program every year. INTERCHARM professional 2010 has one more time demonstrated the positive dynamics of professional visitors’ number growth. From April 22nd till April 24th 40% more beauty-industry specialist visited “Crocus Expo” compared to last year, making in total 33 600 people. According to the researches, the visitors are: cosmetologists, dermatologists, aesthetists and plastic surgeons, managers of beauty and spa salons, cosmetology centers, nail and hair specialists, massage masters.

The increase in visitors’ number is certainly due to the wide promotional campaign, held by the organizing committee of INTERCHARM professional and also to the extension of specialists base, invited from all over Russia. The opening of new metro station Myakinino right at the exhibition venue had a positive effect at the increase of visitors’ number as it made the way to Crocus Expo faster and more comfortable.

As to the exhibitors of INTERCHARM professional 2010, they have traditionally presented the most popular brands on Russian market, such as: Academie Scientifique de Beaute, Ericson Laboratoire, Anna Lotan, Holy Land, CHRISTINA, JANSSEN Cosmeceutical, Reneve, Natura Bisse, SOTHYS, Pevonia, Keenwell, KLAPP, GATINEAU, LCN, Akzent-direct, Alex Beauty Concept, Jessica, Keune, Australian Gold, GUAM and many others.

370 leading companies from Russia, Germany, Poland, Korea, Italy, Canada, Japan and UAE have presented more than 1 500 brands on the ground of 7 600 sq.m. This year more than 40 companies, which have never participated in the exhibition before, have joined INTERCHARM professional this year.

The exhibitors have demonstrated new products and innovative solutions, equipment, accessorize and modern procedures for beauty-salons and institutes, hair and nail studios, spa-salons and solariums; pointed out key tendencies of professional cosmetics sector.

I European Nail Championship

For the first time INTERCHARM professional has provided nail specialists with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and compete for the title of the best manicure and pedicure specialists. 162 participants from Russia, Israel, Germany, Estonia, Latvia and Norway have taken part in the Championship.

The jury was formed from professionals from Finland, Norway and Estonia. Independent supervisory council from International Nail Association of Podologists (USA) has been watching the jury during the whole Championship.

Awarding ceremony has taken place at the end of the 3rd day of INTERCHARM professional. The finalists were awarded in the following categories:
1. Male manicure
2. Female manicure
3. Hardware pedicure
4. Classic pedicure
5. Nail painting
6. Camouflage
7. Acryl/Gel

INTERCHARM professional educational program

INTERCHARM professional educational program is the essential and important part of the exhibition. Congresses, forums and conferences, held during INTERCHARM professional provide the management and specialists from different beauty-industry specialists with the opportunity to expand their theoretical base and receive concrete advices for better business solutions.

“Beauty Salon Management” International Conference

Lectures and seminars, designated to discuss the solutions in human recources, attraction and retention of new clients, the increase of beauty salon profitability, were held within the conference under the slogan “2010: The year of intellectual business”. The event has become popular among the administration and staff of beauty-salons and confirmed its status of business-navigator on beauty salon market.

The participants of “Beauty Salon Management” Conference were offered the real actions and strategy of beauty-salon business management, applied in modern economical circumstances.

The Conference included several interactive events, like “Administrator SHOW’, where the beauty salon administrators had to solve typical tasks of interaction with customers in real time. More than 350 senior beauty-salon managers have demonstrated their knowledge, skills and professionalism in modeled situations.

XIII International Applied Aesthetics Congress

Congress is a prestigious event consisting of seminars organized by thematic days, each one devoted to the problems of modern cosmetology and applied aesthetics. Dermatologists, cosmetologists, applied aesthetics, manicure and pedicure specialists had an opportunity to meet the leading experts of aesthetic medicine and cosmetology, colleagues from different regions of Russian Federation and abroad.

For the first time the participants of the congress were offered a format where they could combine their presentations with demonstration of procedures in real time. The audience was provided with the opportunity to watch the technological nuances of the offered method with the detailed description of the choice options of the products, treatment zones and treatment schemes. 600 specialists took part in the Congress.

V Professional Farma+Beauty Forum

“Farma+Beauty” forum is a specially organized event within the INTERCHARM professional exhibition for top managers of pharmacies and pharmaceutical chains, coincided with the same called exhibition section. “Farma+Beauty” forum was held with the support of Russian Cosmetic Association and Dietary supplements Association.

The participants of Forum – top managers of big pharmacy chains and consulting specialists – have presented marketing and PR methods of interaction with new customer. The legal and HR aspects of business build-up were also among the topics discussed during the event.

International meeting of spa-specialists “SPA-Institute”

The subject of SPA in Russia is still not as popular in Russia, as it is in Europe. It is conditioned, primarily, to the fact that Russian customers prefer cosmetics products and services, providing immediate effect, such as injection, mesotherapy etc.

Spa-industry specialists gathered on the 22nd and 23rd of April to discuss the ways of building an effective spa-salon and learn about new spa methods and techniques.
